Jeannine Bennecib is a French photographer of algerian descent, based in Paris.
She trained in photography at the SPEOS international school of photography in Paris and the ICP in New York, specializing in portraiture and documentary photography, which she completed with a training in alternative photographic processes.
She works on long-term projects on the theme of exile and memory in response to her own family history, that of her parents, forced to flee Algeria at the end of the war for independence.
Her work, guided by an intimate approach, is both conceptual and documentary, combining contemporary photography with archival images and vernacular photographs that she transforms for her purpose. She explores the territorial and emotional fractures that shape trajectories and lives, time and space, as they are brutally and irreversibly crossed.

Transmission is an important element in her photographic practice; she runs artistic workshops for young children where photography, art and poetry meet, within a non-profit organisation she founded: les photographes attentifs.

Jeannine Bennecib est une photographe française d’origine algérienne, basée à Paris.
Elle s’est formée à la photographie au sein de l’école inernational de photographie SPEOS à Paris et de l’ICP à New York, se spécialisant dans le portrait et le photo-documentaire, qu’elle a complété par une formation aux procédés photographiques alternatifs.
